Image via WikipediaAlthough he was 83, it is hard to believe that Paul Newman is no longer with us. He was one of the most adored,admired and respected actors in Hollywood. Although he won an Academy Award for "The Color of Money" and was nominated for many others, he will always be remembered for his philanthropy.
Paul Newman was a role model for his charitable efforts. His "Hole in the Wall Gang Camp" is a residential summer camp for seriously ill children. He also started a food line "Newman's own" in which he donated all profits to charities. He also donated money to Kosovo refugees and set up a large scholarship fund at Kenyon college.
Paul Newman's major films included The Hustler, Hud, Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, The Verdict and Nobody's Fool. He also directed many films. Another passion of his was auto racing. He has been married to actress Joanne Woodward for 50 years.
In June, 2008 it was reported that Paul Newman had lung cancer.

I always thought Paul Newman's best performance was in one of his more little-known roles--as the alcoholic lawyer in The Verdict, taking on a massive Catholic Church mess.
An amazing man! There are Hole In The Wall camps across the country and internationally now, too! I watched the You Tube videos and it's an incredible gift he's given these children!
it's hard not to admire Paul Newman for putting his money to work in such productive ways, such as his Newman's Own line--high quality stuff and the proceeds go to good causes... very smart.
