In a very interesting and surprising development, IMDB (the Internet Movie Database) will now be offering free online videos of television shows and movies on its website imdb.com. There will be over 6,000 titles available including brand new episodes of TV series. Some episodes will actually be available on IMDB before they appear on your television screen.
This would not be surprising if IMDB were not owned by Amazon. However, Amazon not only sells DVDs on its website, but it offers downloadable videos for a fee. Whatever the reasons for this move, it certainly is a great deal for us. You can now add IMDB to Hulu and network websites as another place to catch television shows that you missed. However, I'm amazed at the free movies. Before you rent a DVD, check here. There are also video clips. No need to go to YouTube to see the Tina Fey impersonation of Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live; it's on IMDB.
