Warner Bros. has delayed the opening of The Half Blood Prince, the 6th Harry Potter movie, from November 2008 until July 2009. A Warner Bros. press statement gave this reason for the postponement:

“[L]ike every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of
the writers’ strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other
films—changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new
windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of. We agreed the best strategy was to move Half-Blood Prince to July, where it perfectly fills the gap for a major tent pole release for mid-summer.”

However, there are rumors circulating that there may have been another reason for the move. Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter, will be starring on Broadway this fall in Equus in which he appears completely naked. And for those who don't make it to the show, photographer Annie Leibovitz has once again convinced a teenager to take off his clothes and pose for photos ala Miley Cyrus. The September 2008 issue of Vogue includes a picture of Daniel Radcliffe nude on a horse.
