Hey! Nielsen is an interesting website. It is a social networking site for entertainment lovers. It is an opinion site. The main activity on the site is giving opinions on TV, Movies, Music, Personalities, The Internet or Video Games and then having other people agree or disagree. It is also supposedly an influential website in that the opinions of the members will be likely to reach media moguls through Nielsen. I joined about a month ago and, if nothing else, it is fun.

It is a fairly well thought out site. I like the many different categories. They also allow you to fine-tune your feelings. You don't just have to choose like or dislike when voting on a TV show or celebrity. There is a big range going from intense like to intense dislike with a lot in between.

There are two things that you can do on Hey! Nielsen to show how you feel about something. You can create an opinion. For ex., I posted the opinion "I think Lost is a groundbreaking television show". You are limited to doing this no more that once per category per day so that nobody will try to flood the site with their opinions. Then, you can react to everybody else's opinions. There is no limit on this. There is a range of reactions. You can Completely agree, agree, completely disagree, etc. Once reactions come in, a percentage is placed next to the opinion. I just checked on my Lost opinion, which I posted on May 16, and I had 40 reactions with a 70% agreement.

All members have a profile page which list all their favorites and likes. If you have a blog or website you can list it there. If other members find your opinions interesting they might go and check your profile out.

One reason that I doubt that Hey! Nielsen has much real influence is that Moonlight was the number one rated show on it. For those of you that don't know, Moonlight has already been canceled.
